Rajni Dangi urges CM to intervene in 'No Construction Zone' matterChairperson of Udaipur Municipal Council, Rajni Dangi wrote a letter today addressing the Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot to intervene in the matter of “No Construction Zone”.

She informed CM that people are living in the areas adjoining lakes for more than 400 years and to demolish their houses will not be a good.

Dangi also informed Gehlot that Honorable High Court had issued a notification in 17.01.97 to mark the area near Pichola and Fatehsagar as “No Construction Zone”, considering the threat of lake pollution. According to Dangi, the ground reality is that these houses dose not let any sewer into the lakes.

She wrote that thousands of houses on the eastern and western side of the lakes and houses laying on the eastern downstream of the lakes are also marked under No construction Zone, while people are living there from generations. They even can’t renovate their constructions after the orders; some of the houses are in deplorable condition and need urgent repairs.

In such situation, people undertake renovation and constructions by themselves without appropriate permission and increasing the amount of illegal constructions in the zone, where even the Municipal Council is helpless.

She also urged in the letter that the number of people living this area is more than 1 lac and we cannot re-habitat so many people together, hence considering the topography of the city and on humane grounds, State Government should put a SPL (Special Leave Petition) in the Honorable Court against the orders.

SPL : Special leave petition means that you take special permission to be heard in appeal against any High Court/tribunal verdict. Usually, any issue decided by the State High Court is considered as final, but if there exist any constitutional issue or legal issue which can only be clarified by the Supreme Court of India then this leave is granted by the Supreme Court & this is heard as a Civil or Criminal appeal as the case may be in the Apex court.

Chairperson has also enclosed a copy of the letter of the then Collector, in which it has been mentioned that illegal constructions in the zone has been done by the people in their own property and they cannot be termed as encroachers and if the demolition work would be carried out then there will be a tremendous problem of re-settling.

Rajni Dangi with the people residing in the “No Construction Zone” also met District Collector Vikas S. Bhale in the evening and discussed the matter with the collector.

While, all this matter is going-on on one side, on the other side, it has been reported by some un-confirmed sources that Rajendra Rajdan has given a letter to the ADM (city) for continues harassment by Dalpat Surana and his people and suspected threat to his life by aforesaid people.
