Reliance Mart penalised for selling outdated deo
Reliance Mart has been penalised for selling a deo beyond expiry date.
Reliance Mart at Lakecity mall, Ayad, has been penalised for selling an outdated deodorant spray. It produced burning sensation upon usage.
Shashank Bagri bought a deodorant spray from Reliance Mart at Lakecity Mall. He had a burning sensation when he used the spray. The matter was reported to District Consumer Forum. The Forum penalised Reliance Mart for defective business policy.
Manager of Reliance Mart has been ordered to pay 3000 rupees to Shashank Bagri. The incidence took place almost 1 and half years back. Shashank Bagri bought Old Spice Fresh Lime deo from Reliance Mart for 90 rupees. Investigations revealed that the price printed on the deo was 180 rupes and the expiry date was 16th April. Mart management played fool by pasting a sticker of 90 rupees on the expiry date so that no one could see the date. Unaware of this, Shashank bought the deo and when he used it he suffered a burning sensation on his skin. The matter was taken to the office of Advocate Nishant Bagri who presented it before Consumer Forum.
Forum President Randhir Singh Naruka and Member Anubha Sharma imposed a penalty of 3000 rupees on Reliance Mart. As per penalty, Reliance Mart is supposed to reimburse the cost of deodorant which was paid as 90 rupees as per the sticker, 1500 rupees against mental agony and 1500 rupees as fees towards court’s proceedings.
