Relief for “No Construction Zone” affected People; State Government agreed to move SLP

In what can safely be taken as a temporary relief, hundreds of houses have been spared from the unrelenting claws of JCB’s and Bulldozers of the UIT and Nagar Parishad, as the High Court had earlier ordered these administrative bodies to demolish all illegal constructions in the “No Construction Zone”. At a top brass meeting held today in Jaipur, it was decided to give temporary relief to the potentially affected people, of the High Court’s order.

The News came today in the late evening hours, when after the meeting with the UDF Secretary G.S. Sandhu,  at Jaipur Secretariat, Rameshwar Prasad Sharma, Secretary of the UIT  informed that the State Government has agreed to move SLP (Special Leave Petition) against the orders after hearing the information provided by the administrative officials to the UDF Secretary.

Rajni Dangi and UIT Secretary informed G.S. Sandhu that after the implementation of the orders of demolition there could be public annoyance and law and order of the city will be disturbed, on the other hand more than 1.5 lac people are affected by this order, Udaipur is a city that is build around the lakes and we can’t demolish all the houses adjoining lakes therefore State Government should move SLP against the orders.

What is SLP

Special leave petition means that you take special permission to be heard in appeal against any High Court/tribunal verdict. Usually any matter decided by the State High Court is considered as final, but if there exist any constitutional issue or legal issue which can only be clarified by the Supreme Court of India then, this leave is granted by the Supreme Court & this is heard as a Civil or Criminal appeal as the case may be. Going to the Supreme Court in appeal should not be considered a matter of right by anyone but it is matter of privilege which only the Supreme Court will grant to any individual if there exist an important constitutional or legal issue involved in any case that was not properly interpreted by the concerned High Court against whose judgment you approach the Highest court of the country not otherwise.

This meeting was called by the UDF Secretary G.S. Sandhu, with the top administrative officials of Udaipur on the issue of “No Construction Zone”, which included Divisional Commissioner Subodh Agarwal, District Collector and DM Udaipur Vikas Sitaram Bhale, UIT Secretary Rameshwar Prasad Sharma, Municipal Council Commissioner Satya Narayan Acharya, Municipal Council Chairperson Rajni Dangi, State Government’s Advocate General and the officer especially appointed for this issue IAS Niranjan Arya.

Aayad River taken into National Project for Rivers and Canals

Rajni Dangi (Chairperson, MCU) informed that Aayad river is now been taken in National Project of Canals and Rivers and G.S. Sandhu have also instructed to put public display and sign boards for “No Plastic Zone” and to punish the offenders who were found polluting lakes.

Whatever will be the outcome after the SLP, but a relief by the State Government has been provided to the people is for sure.
