Just a kilometer away from Fatehpura police station, 2 houses were robbed off sandalwood trees in 2 months. Resident of Saheli marg Brigadier CP Joshi said that on the night of 31st July, thieves entered his premises. He heard someone trying to saw down the trees. These thieves ran away when they heard public coming their way. Next morning, plant pots were found broken. Iron rod on the railing was also damaged. Almost 90 percent of the tree had been chopped. Fatehpura police were informed and they created a report based on the scene as found.
It was reported that there were 2 sandalwood trees out of which one was chopped 4 years back. Since the owners had awakened on the sound of chopping, the thieves had run away. The tree had to be felled to avoid any damage to the people around. The house owners also said that they have a temple inside their premises. A steel pot was hung over Lord Bholenath’s idol for water. Thieves even took away that pot mistaking it as silver.
Two months back, neighbour to Brigadier Joshi, Sudhanshu Mathur reported sandalwood trees stolen from his house. The colony is terrorised by these thieves every now and then. Written applications have been submitted in this matter in the police station.
