A shocking incident of utter negligence of the Railway authorities at City Railway Station came to light today, when a pre-installed metal detector device was found disabled even in the peak tourist season, especially when security is of utmost importance at such public places.

Udaipur being one of the most liked tourist spots of Rajasthan welcomes nearly 500 travelers per day from various parts of the globe, out of which a major number steps down the City of Lakes on city station at Udiapol.  Apart from these a handsome number of tourists from various nearby places frequently becomes a part of city.

Under the prevailing statistics, security systems at most of the public places are missing or disabled.  One such missing equipment was noticed at the City Railway station where a metal detector was installed but was not working.  When asked about the reasons for the same, the railway authority replied that it was shifted from one gate to another but in absence of power socket near the gate it is not working.

According to Harfool Singh Choudhary, Area Manager, City Railway Station, Udaipur, it was shifted around a week back and technicians were notified some time back for arranging a power plug.  He, though, has admitted that disability of such a system is a very serious problem as any hazardous thing can enter the premises.

Sources informed that apart from a couple of Intercity express trains from bigger metro cities of India, around 6 trains between nearby districts also arrives at this station on daily basis, which increases chances of intruders landing safe.

Witnessing such large number of visitors,   the authorities of the town must be alert enough to guard local masses from any unpleasant activities like bomb blast or terrorist attacks, for which proper security systems and policemen must be arranged on public places like bus stand and railway stations.
