Udaipur Municipal Council (UMC) has identified problems in the sewerage cleaning process between Ashok Nagar and Maya Mishthan due to a complete technical failure. The cleaners have found a huge amount of sewage blocked in the underground channels, which is preventing normal sewerage cleaning procedure.

As the Monsoon is approaching it has become the biggest obstacle for the council to clean the sewage.

The underground sewerage has a number of technical issues which is making the problem more intense, as no sewerage chamber was installed while constructing the drainage system four years back by the UIT, informs the Council.

Now, as the Monsoon is about to hit the city and the Council, after being reminding on several occasions have reacted late. This would be problematic for the residents as the drainage system is likely to fail in case of heavy rainfall. Though late, the Council has begun deliberating on the issue and is looking at alternative solutions.

According to the sources, if somehow the cleaning process starts then road connecting Ashok Nagar and University will be affected; it may also result in the breakdown of water and telephone lines in and around the area.

On this matter, Rajni Dangi, Chairperson of the UMC has called a meeting with related engineers and committee members having instructed to find alternate measures to solve the problem and also come up with a detailed report.

“We are looking for the possibility of constructing a sewerage chamber before the rainy season, so that we can minimize rain water blockage in and around Ashok Nagar”, said Rajni Dangi, Chairperson, UMC.
