Sewerage leakage-Contaminating Pichola
Lake Pichola getting contaminated by sewerage leakage.
A sewerage line overflew into Lake Pichola and has started contaminating the lake. The 40 year old sewerage line is around 90 metres long. A part of it has leaked and dirt is flowing out on the road and falling straight into Lake Pichola.
Municipal Corporation team reached the site on Tuesday and inspected the area. As per information, the sewerage line between Gadia Devra and Chandpole road has weakened at a lot of points. Replacement of this sewerage line was into consideration, but due to natural factors this line started leaking and it overflew on Monday. The overflow went alongside the wall between the two points and started falling into the lake.
Sources say that Paras Singhvi of the Works committee inspected the area and directed Assistant Engineer Satya Narayan Sharma to look into the matter on priority basis. Member of Lake Lovers Committee Tej Shankar Paliwal also reported this matter to Commissioner Siddharth Sihag who inspected the site and witnessed the dirt from the sewerage line making its way into Lake Pichola.
As per Tej Shankar Paliwal this sewerage line is quite old and needs a replacement. It is leaking from a lot of places because of the formation of chemical gases. The pressure created by these gases is causing the sewerage line to burst open from several places; hence it needs to be replaced.
