As per Anil Tamboli, JEngg, Electricity Department, “The short circuit was caused by a wet trunk of Peepal tree falling onto the high tension wires.”
The Peepal tree mentioned, is a very giant tree which has its trunks in the houses of locals. It is also the shed for monkeys and eagles, because of which trunks and twigs keep falling every day.
Last night, a wet trunk fell onto a high tension wire, at 11:30 PM which caused short circuit and fire in the trunk, but no loss of property was recorded. The power supply of whole colony was lost. The electricity department responded shortly and after repair, power was restored.
