Two months back, some unidentified people intending to steal the idols of Jain deities broke down Digamber Jain temple doors at night. Since the guard had woken up, the thieves could not take away anything from this temple. After this a new door was installed.

Thursday night, thieves managed to escape with the one feet tall idol of Bhagwan Adinath from this temple which is in Debari. It has been reported that there were 3 idols made of asht-dhatu(8 metals) in this temple. Thieves have taken away the idol of Bhagwan Adinath. 2 Idols of Bhagwan Parshvanath among which one is big in size are safe inside.

The idol stolen is in Padmasan mudra. The theft was noticed at 5 p.m. on Thursday. The temple’s pujari and security guard did not notice any suspicious act. Pratapnagar police has registered a case against the unidentified and is trying to locate the idol.

There is a security system installed in the temple premises which is activated only at night time. It is being speculated that the thieves knew about security system, hence they acted during day time.
