RNT Medical College administration has escalated anti-tobacco movement in the campus over the last one week.

In an open letter from the administration to the media, the Principal has described how over the last five days, people smoking or chewing tobacco products within campus have been given Challans.  The purpose of Challan, more than a penalty is aimed at educating them of the ills of Tobacco.

Today, 5 people caught smoking were handed Challans while 4 people, who were chewing Gutkha were educated on the harms of Tobacco.

RNT Medical College is the only Medical college in the state to have initiated this campaign, which aims to eradicate Tobacco use from campus by 15th August, Independence Day this year. All staff of the college, which includes Doctors, Nurses, support staff, etc have pledged to keep away from Tobacco products compulsorily.  Further they have also pledged to eradicate use of Tobacco from campus by education patients and their relatives.

Various teams have been formed to stabilize this initiative.  Health Education and Challan team comprises of Dr. Rupa Sharma, Dr. Poonam Poswal, Laxmilal Veerwal and Harish Kumar Choubisa.  Media Jagruti team comprises of Dr. Gopal Bunkar and Dr. Narendra Rathod.
