Traffic jam and illegal parking are major issues in Udaipur
Traffic management needs to be improved at war-footing.
Udaipur city is facing certain issues which need to be controlled at the earliest. As it is lack of monsoon has spoiled the beauty of Lake City, there on the other hand increasing traffic and illegal parking are making the city look really bad.
Traffic is a major issue in the city. Public is tired of the traffic jams every now and then which is mainly due to the increasing number of vehicles every year in the city. The inner lanes of the city suffer too much as the old and traditional shopping market is inside these narrow lanes. Public still heads towards these markets mainly for wedding shopping. But all these areas are so flooded with traffic that breathing has also become difficult in the interior areas. Emission from vehicles has made the air of Bhattiyanni chohatta, Clock tower, Jagdish chowk and Maldas street extremely polluted. Even the external market area of Bapu Bazar is full of vehicle fumes. More so, parking outside shops has narrowed down the roads everywhere.

Public parks their vehicles just anyhow. Though a parking area has been opened in Ravji ka Hata in a traditional vyayamshala, yet parking and traffic jams are major issues especially in the tourist season. With this increase in traffic and the blockades on the roads, tourists are also taking a bad image of our city. Administration needs to look at these issues and take quick steps to eradicate these problems else there are all the possibilities that these traffic jams might spread a bad word and push Udaipur behind on the tourism map.
Apart from this, traffic lights are posing to be a big hindrance in the efficiency of traffic. Lights haven’t been working well enough in the city; in fact most of them have not been working since long. Whether there is an internal management issue or an external one, the traffic lights must be repaired so that traffic can move in a controlled manner.
