Despite the fact that inner city of Udaipur has a system of one-way traffic, traffic jam is a common sight. Half the time of the traffic police and businessmen of this area goes in clearing traffic.Jagdish Chowk is one such area in Lakecity where traffic jam happens almost every day. The area has the famous Jagdish Temple and schools as well. Mornings and afternoons are the most difficult times for public and business operators. Parking done by devotees, shop owners and employees of offices in the area have congested the roads to a great extent. The inner lanes are narrow and vehicles are parked everywhere. In case a car passes through or even an auto, the traffic starts moving at a snail’s pace and roads get blocked for a long time.

Devotees park their vehicles right outside the temple which narrows the road to a great extent. As per the businessmen of the area, there is a parking available nearby provided by municipal corporation, but nobody bothers to park vehicles there.

Traffic jam causes enough disturbances and also creates pollution in the area. The condition gets worse with tourist season. One-way traffic system seems to be of no relevance as the area has residential buildings as well.
