Tribal from seven districts of Rajasthan protested today at the Udaipur Divisional Commissioner’s Office under the banner of Rajasthan Jan Adhikar Aandolan.
Protestors coming from Udaipur, Chittor, Rajsamand, Dungarpura, Banswara, Pratapgarh and Sirohi, gathered at the D. C.’s office and put up their demands in writing.
Tribal demanded effective implementation and execution Parliamentary Acts that were legislated for the betterment of tribal and low income population residing in India’s countryside. They complained that, the Forest Rights Act, Panchayat Extension to Scheduled Area Act (PESA), MNREGA Act, Right to Information Act and Right to Education Act are neither implemented completely nor regulated well, hence there are no benefits accruing to tribal.
There was a lot of anger and disappointment seen among the gathered crowd.
“Considering the benefit of local village people, Government should hand over the charge of the forests to the village panchayat. Handing over the charge to the tribal will increase their sources of income”, said Jawahar Singh Dagur, State Coordinator, Rajasthan.
Dagur added, “We are looking forward to the Divisional Commissioner to look upon the issues seriously and put an end to the problems of the tribal”.
