Udaipur, not a part of IncredibleIndia.org

Even though Udaipur is a world known travel destination and even if it listed in top international magazines like Conde Naste,

…or its Hotels are known to be the most romantic, the height of ignorance is that the official travel website of India www.incredibleIndia.org has omitted Udaipur from being listed on their website along with other travel hot-spots.

The homepage of the Incredible India website gives its users the option of browsing Travel, Trade and Media for various purposes. All aspiring tourists probably check the Travel section which says make your holiday memorable, and by clicking it, one goes to the page that has options for selecting the regions or TYPING in the destination.

Udaipur, a part of the World’s Best Cities is not a part of the drop down list, though other cities of Rajasthan including Jaipur, Ajmer, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Bundi-Kota-Jhalawar, Bharatpur, Mount Abu, Sawai Madhopur and Sariska are there in the list.

More surprising is the fact that even if you check the list of all the destinations, which are listed alphabetically, there are only two cities listed with the alphabet ‘U’, Ujjan and Udipi. Further, if you search a destination, all you find are two results – “Digha”, which is in West Bengal and “Tripura”.

Incredible India is a campaign started by the Government of India in the year 2002 to promote India in the international tourism circuit. Though it has gained much recognition and fame over the years, but by omitting Udaipur, the City of Lakes from the list of travel destinations the campaign might face agitation from the Udaipurites, especially from the local travel and tourism industry and organizations indulge in hospitality sector.
