On the orders of Divisional Commissioner Subodh Agarwal, Udaipur Municipal Council (UMC) confiscated hoardings and banners placed illegally in various parts of the city; FIRs have also been lodged at respective police stations for legal actions against the accused.
Reacting on the instructions of Divisional Commissioner, UMC today impounded banners and hoardings at several places, including BapuBazaar, Surajpol, Dehli Gate, Sukhadia Circle, Hathi Pol etc. with the help of encroachment squad. UMC also identified around 146 other hoardings which are placed without any legal sanctions.
Though the issue has been included several times in UMC Board Meetings in past 3 years, sources says that the action is implemented on strict orders given by Subhod Agarwal last week, in which photographs of more than 200 such places were identified in records of UMC and were later forwarded to respective police stations for appropriate action.
While many of the illegal banners have been taken under custody by council, this activity will continue in future also, and the banners which were identified today would be levied with due penalty or notice.
“Even after multiple warnings and instructions, banners are being installed. They would be warned once again along with a penalty amount of Rs 500”, said Satya Narayan Acharya, Commissioner, UMC.
