University election results challenged, Protestors called for University Bandh

Demanding the ‘correct-results’, CSS, DSS and other Independent Candidates (minus ABVP) who competed in recent Student Elections, called for Bandh in University today.

Though, the Bandh was not fully successful as, “On the request of Vice Chancellor of the University and Add. SP, Udaipur we didn’t insist other colleges, besides, College of Science, College of Arts, BioTech and MTM to be the part of Bandh”, said Surya Prakash Suhalka, Co-Ordinator, CSS.

The protestors gathered in front of University Office and demanded the inclusion of those 170 votes which were legal, yet, cancelled along with the bunch of 377 votes.

“In those 170 votes, nearly 145 votes are in favor of Deepak Sharma and he would be the clear winner when those votes are considered”, Surya Prakash added.

He also said, “We would now wait for next 3 days and if we don’t get any positive response from officials, then we will file the case in High Court”.

Factually, I.V. Trivedi, Vice-Chancellor was not available at the campus, it was informed that he is in Jaipur. The protestors then conversed with Registrar, who assured them of the analysis and right action based on their allegation of irregularity by University in Vote polling and counting.

According to our sources, a No Confidence Motion might be exercised by the elected panel of 20 student leaders in coming days. Election experts say that, if two-thirds of the votes of elected panel go against the presently elected President, he has to step down from his post and the next authority, the Vice President will assume the post of President of University. And if, 2/3 of the votes go against President and Vice President both, then the panel of 20 will elect new President and Vice President from amongst themselves. There are President, Vice President, Secretary and Joint Secretary and 16 others who make the panel of 20.
