Students of MBBS from RNT Medical College called for one day strike against the new regulations introduced by Central Health Ministry and Medical Council of India.

According to the new proposed rule, the MBBS course has been increased to 7.5 years adding 1 year of rural internship and 1 year of additional internship.

Previously the course was of 5.5 years including 1 year of internship. Strikes were held all over the country against the new rule.

RNT Students demonstrated outside their college and handed over a letter to the district administrative officer and principal of college stating their concerns. Students said that they are not against rural internship but they will not support the additional 1 year of internship.

According to sources, the clause was introduced to curb the shortage of doctors in rural areas. However, students are discontented with the new rule.
