Students of the College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (CVAS), Navania, Udaipur, whose recognition from the Rajasthan University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (RUVAS) was recently suspended, have filed a memorandum to the Governor of Rajasthan for their official transfer to CVAS Bikaner, the only other college under the RUVAS in Rajasthan.
The students also protested for a quick transfer in front of the Collectorate.
The college that started its first term in 2007 was compliant to the Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology (MPUAT).
CVAS, Navania was recommended for suspension by the Veterinary Council of India (VCI) last year after the council did an inspection of the college. VCI, in their report said that the college lacks basic facilities and amenities to be a college.
Deepak Jangid, a student of CVAS, Navania who was also protesting today said, “All our futures will be at stake if the government doesn’t transfer us to the CVAS branch at Bikaner.” He added, “CVAS Bikaner is recognized with the RUVAS, which is why we are asking for a transfer to Bikaner.”
It was also cited in the Memorandum that in a similar case in Assam, the VCI had earlier recommended the suspension of a Veterinary College affiliated to the State Veterinary University of Assam in Lakhimpur, Assam, and the students were given a seat at the Veterinary College in Guwahati, Assam, which is also affiliated, to the same State Veterinary university.
