Subsequent to the afternoon news of the Supreme Court refusing the hear the plea of the Rajasthan and MP governments for stalling the release of the Deepika Padukone starrer “Padmaavat”, members of the Karni Sena took to the streets, specially outside cinema halls of the city.
Police was immediately positioned outside the premier malls of Udaipur, viz. Lake City and Celebration Mall. This was done in anticipation of a rude law and order situation which could be faced once the movie is released in theaters across the state on 25 Jan. A disgusting situation in the country where a handful of people without rational arguments are bent on taking the law and order into their own hands.
The Mall management at Celebration Mall decided to close the Mall completely and all entry to the Mall premises was blocked, fearing violence and intrusion by anti social elements. TCM wore a deserted look today evening.
All people entering Lake City Mall at Ayad bridge, hosing the INOX Cinema were being questioned by the police as a safety measure fearing violence. A large crowd of protesters was seen outside Celebration Mall today as evening approached, forcing the management to close the Mall.
