September 18, 2026: The Central Power Research Institute (CPRI), an organisation under the Union Ministry of Power, has released a recruitment notification for 110 vacancies. The recruitment drive covers several posts, including Engineering Officer, Engineering Assistant, Scientific Assistant, Technician, Assistant, Technical Attendant and Multi-Tasking Staff.

Eligible Indian citizens from across the country can apply through the online application process. The required qualification depends on the post and ranges from Class 10 to B.E./B.Tech. As mentioned in the notification, candidates will be selected through a direct interview process, without a written or online examination.

CPRI Recruitment 2026: Vacancy, Eligibility and Age Limit

The recruitment has been announced under Notification Number CPRI/06/2026. The vacancies are distributed across different posts.

  • Engineering Officer Gr. I (Electrical): 7
  • Engineering Officer Gr. I (Civil): 1
  • Engineering Assistant (Electrical): 10
  • Engineering Assistant (Mechanical): 1
  • Scientific Assistant (Chemistry): 2
  • Technician Gr. I (Electrical): 7
  • Technician Gr. I (Mechanical): 2
  • Technical Attendant Gr. I: 37
  • Assistant Gr. II: 29
  • Multi-Tasking Staff Grade I (Watch & Ward Duties): 14

For Engineering Officer posts, candidates need a B.E. or B.Tech degree in the relevant discipline. Engineering Assistant applicants should have a three-year Engineering Diploma in the relevant trade. A B.Sc. or equivalent degree in Chemistry is required for the Scientific Assistant post.

Candidates applying for Technician Gr. I posts need an ITI qualification in the relevant trade, while Assistant Gr. II applicants must have a bachelor's degree in any discipline. For Technical Attendant Gr. I and MTS posts, candidates should have passed Class 10 or an equivalent examination.

The maximum age limit varies according to the post. It is 30 years for Engineering Officer Gr. I, 35 years for Engineering Assistant and Scientific Assistant, and 28 years for Technician Gr. I. The limit is 30 years for Technical Attendant Gr. I and Assistant Gr. II, while MTS Grade I applicants can be up to 25 years old. Age relaxation will apply to eligible reserved-category candidates as per government rules.

CPRI Recruitment 2026: Salary, Application and Selection Process

The selected candidates will receive salaries according to the applicable pay levels under the 7th Pay Commission. Engineering Officer Gr. I posts are placed at Pay Level-7, while Engineering Assistant and Scientific Assistant posts come under Pay Level-6. Technician Gr. I posts are under Pay Level-2.

Technical Attendant Gr. I and MTS Grade I posts are placed at Pay Level-1, while Assistant Gr. II comes under Pay Level-4. Candidates should check the official notification for the exact salary details and other allowances.

The application process will be conducted online through the official CPRI website. Candidates need to visit the Careers section, select the relevant recruitment link and complete the registration process. After entering their personal and educational details, applicants must upload the required documents, photograph and signature, pay the application fee and submit the form.
