GD Goenka students win medals in Speed Ball contest at Pali

Sports play a great role in a students’ life. It keeps them healthy, active, attentive and enhances their mental and physical capabilities.

Having 11 sports already, G D Goenka International School, Udaipur has introduced a new sport – Speed-Ball. It is a SGFI approved Sport.

Speed Ball is a fast paced racquet sport wherein a hollow ball in latex revolves around a metallic mast linked by a nylon thread. The thread is knotted to the mast by a loop or a plastic ring freely revolving around a reel. The mast is fixed in a base. The ball is elliptic and is hit with a rigid plastic racquet with a small handle and a string around 25 cm of diameter.

Speed-ball is played alone (super-solo), with two players (single match), or four players (double match), or four players (relay).

The students of GDGISU bought laurels at the SGFI – State Level Speed Ball held in Pali in various categories –

  • Palak Vyas and Zemfira Khan bagged Gold medals in Doubles category
  • Himanshu Vyas bagged Gold medal and Akshat Jain bagged Silver medal in Relay category
  • Hridayanshi Tanwar bagged Silver medal in Single category
  • Hriday Laddha bagged Bronze medal in Solo Category.
