In 1989, the Governing Council of the United Nations Development Programme recommended that 11 July be observed as World Population Day.
World Population Day aims to increase people’s awareness on various population issues such as the importance of family planning, including gender equality, poverty, maternal health and human rights.
The Junior Study 5th grade students spent the morning discussing these population issues and learned many interesting facts about overpopulation, poverty, gender inequality and problems related to the growing population.
Students indulged into various activities and made their presentations on the same. It was interesting to see the students come out with their innovative thought processes and their concerns on the subject.
