St. Anthony Chess Team qualifies for National Tournament
The Chess Team of St. Anthony School received grand welcome upon their arrival to the city yesterday. The under-19 and under-14 team of the school participated in the CBSE West Zone Chess Tournament held in Chattisgarh’s Academic Heights Public School.

School administration, parents and chess players of the city whole heartedly welcomed the players. The under-19 team qualified for the upcoming National Tournament in Amritsar by grabbing 4th position in West zone tournament whereas under-14 team remained on 6th position.
William D Souza, Principal of St. Anthony’s School congratulated chess coach Vikas Sahu and players including under-19 team’s Mudit Babel (Captain and Board Prize Winner), Nikhil Yadav, Yugansh Shukla, Manthan Chittora and Kushal Patel. Under-14’s Kunal Chabra (Board Prize Winner), Divyanshu Babel, Vandan Lodha, Devansh Chechani and Alpesh Patni also received warm welcome by school authorities.
Parents of the students and famous chess player Rajendra Teli were present on the occasion.
Vikas Sahu informed that under-19 team played with teams of St. Paul’s Indore, MDS Udaipur, Navodaya School, Surat, Narayanan Vidyalaya, Nagpur and scored 9 match point in 6 rounds to get fourth position. The under- 14 team scored 8 match point and remained on 6th position.
