Symbol of good will and cheer

Harvey Ball, an artist from Massachusetts created the smiley face in 1963. As years passed people forgot the meaning and intent of this symbol. He thought that we all should devote at least one day each year to smiles and acts throughout the world. He declared that the first Friday in October month each year would henceforth be World Smile Day.
