UdaipurTimes, Oct 13, 2026 - Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation (RIICO) will conduct drone-based geospatial surveys in selected RIICO industrial areas to improve their management and provide greater convenience to entrepreneurs, as per a government press release. It aims to provide reliable, data-driven digital information to support planning, development and administrative processes.

In the initial phase, approximately 50 square kilometres will be surveyed using drones.

Modern digital technology will be used to collect detailed information about industrial plots, buildings, roads, land use and other infrastructure facilities. Based on the data collected through the surveys, 2D digital maps and 3D models will be developed. Geotagged data will also be prepared in a format compatible with Geographic Information Systems (GIS), supporting the planning and development of industrial areas.

A separate digital evidence sheet will be prepared for each plot. These sheets will contain details such as the plot identification number, boundaries, construction status, land-use information and other particulars in accordance with applicable RIICO regulations.

The drone surveys will also collect information about existing infrastructure and natural resources within industrial areas. This will include identifying and assessing electricity infrastructure, roads, trees and vegetation and other site-specific features. Relevant details, including their numbers, lengths and other applicable measurements, will also be recorded.
