May 23, 2025 - Director Om Raut is bringing a biopic on former President and scientist Dr APJ Abdul Kalam after his Rs 700-crore film Adipurush. The name of his upcoming film is Kalam: The Missile Man of India. The lead role will be played by two-time National Award-winning South superstar Dhanush, who is known for his strong performances.

This will be Raut's first project after Adipurush failed at the box office in 2023. He revealed the first title poster of his upcoming film at the 78th Cannes Film Festival. The poster is now going viral on social media.

Raut shared the poster of his new film on Instagram and wrote, “From Rameswaram to Rashtrapati Bhavan, the journey of a legend begins... India’s Missile Man is coming to the silver screen. Dream big. Rise high. #KALAM The Missile Man Of India.”

The poster features a missile with a blue and black theme. It has been confirmed that Dhanush will play the role of Dr Kalam and it will be produced by Abhishek Agarwal, Bhushan Kumar, Krishna Kumar and Anil Sunkara.

Fans Excited

After the poster release, fans reacted with excitement. Many people praised the choice of Dhanush and wished director Raut good luck.

Dhanush also shared the poster and wrote, “I am truly feeling blessed and very humbled to portray the life of such an inspiring and generous leader – our own Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Sir.”

Adipurush Failed Despite Big Budget

Raut’s Adipurush, which starred Saif Ali Khan, Prabhas, Kriti Sanon and Sunny Singh, was made on a budget of Rs 700 crores. Despite being one of India’s most expensive films, the film received heavy criticism and failed at the box office, although it managed to recover its cost.
