The much controversial movie “Padmavati” renamed “Padmavat” is to be released on 25th January. Supreme court has given a green signal for the release of this controversial movie countrywide. The court also restrained states from issuing ban on this film.

Supreme Court stayed the ban on the film “Padmavat” and approved its release on 25th January nationwide. The court stated that all states are constitutionally obliged to maintain law and order. Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh had banned the release of “Padmavat” but as per Supreme Court’s orders even these states are bound to release the film.

Bench of  Chief Justice of India  and 2 other Judges observed that the film was cleared by Central Board of Film Certification keeping in mind the prohibition of scenes of the movie that belittle women’s image.

This movie directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali has received much opposition since the time of shoot. Even now it is facing similar or even more opposition since Rajput community, in fact entire Rajasthan, is against the release of the film. The scenes of the movie denigrating Rajput women’s image and a wrong depiction in various sequences have not been taken lightly by masses.
