July 14, 2025 - The issue of Hindi films getting into legal trouble is not new. Many times, films face court cases owing to their release or controversial content. Right now, actor Vijay Raaz’s upcoming film Udaipur Files is also in the news because of a release issue. Recently, the Delhi High Court banned the release of this movie. Now, the makers of Udaipur Files have gone to the Supreme Court and asked for the case to be heard again.

Udaipur Files in Supreme Court

The producer of Udaipur Files has filed a petition in the Supreme Court against the decision of the Delhi High Court. He believes his film does not show anything that people do not already know.

“Our film is based on a true incident. It shows the murder of an innocent tailor named Kanhaiya Lal, which is a clear violation of the fundamental right to life,” he said.

Senior lawyer Gaurav Bhatia presented this argument in the Supreme Court on behalf of the filmmakers.

Supreme Court Agrees for Re-Hearing

The Court has agreed to hear the case again. Now, it will be interesting to see whether the Court allows the release of Udaipur Files or not.

Earlier, on July 10, the Delhi High Court had ordered to stop the release of the film just 12 hours before its scheduled release on July 11.

What is the Film About?

Udaipur Files is based on the 2022 murder of tailor Kanhaiyalal Sahu in Udaipur, Rajasthan.
