The renovation project of 150 year old – Jagdish Chowk Girls School, by Maharana Mewar Charitable Trust began yesterday in the presence of Nivritti Kumari Mewar, wife of Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar.

The renovation project of 150 year old – Jagdish Chowk Girls School, by Maharana Mewar Charitable Trust began yesterday in the presence of Nivritti Kumari Mewar, wife of Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar.

Bhupendra Singh Ahua, Administrative Officer of Maharana Mewar Charitable trust informed that, “The school which was built 150 years back in the name of then king, Maharana Shambhu Singh was the first ‘Girl’s School’ in Mewar and Udaipur region at the time.”

“The 150 year old structure was in need of a renovation. The school administration reached the trust for the support in the cause, and Shriji Arvind Singh Mewar positively reacted, after looking into the necessity of the renovation,” he added.

It was the first school in Udaipur region at the time with the name – Shambhu Ratna Pathshala. Teachers of Hindi, English, Urdu and Mathematics were appointed then to deliver education to the kids. Later, the school went under the administration of Education Department.

Currently, more than 600 girls are studying in the school which is directed by Damini Dantya. The school will celebrate its foundation day on 2nd Nov. 2014.
