18-Month-Old Mauled by Street Dogs in Kota

Recent rise in stray dog attacks in Rajasthan sparks safety concerns

 |

July 25, 2025 – An 18-month-old child was attacked by street dogs in Kota on July 24 and badly injured with three wounds on her back and four bite marks. Manvi Jain was attacked by three dogs while playing in front of her house early at around 6:30 am while her grandfather was just a short distance away.

The incident of Gulabbadi area of Rampura has been captured on CCTV and shows three dogs running towards the toddler, grabbing her in their mouth and dragging her along the ground to almost seven feet away. Her screams alerted her grandfather and neighbours who rushed to her rescue.

This again raises questions of the safety of residents from stray dogs. This applies not only to little children or elderly persons who are of vulnerable ages, but even to young or healthy adults who are unable to protect themselves from street dogs when the animals suddenly show signs of hunting pack mentality.

Readers may recall a recent incident in Udaipur’s Kharol Colony area where a young boy was repeatedly attacked by a pack of dogs and got bitten all over his body. The dogs appeared unafraid and undeterred even when being chased away by an adult with a stick and kept attempting to return to their target.
