Following the Assembly elections, the Election Department has begun gearing up for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The initial phase involves updating the voter list, with the department launching a campaign to add and modify names starting on January 6, 2024. As part of this process, young individuals who will attain the age of 18 on January 1, 2024 or later have the opportunity to apply for their names in the voter list.
Applications will be subject to verification and the final publication of the updated voter list is scheduled for February 8, 2024. This step aims to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the voter registry in preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2024.
The District Collector and Election Officer, Arvind Kumar Poswal, has announced the commencement of the voter list update process. By February 6, 2024, the Election Commission's approval will facilitate the preparation of the database for the final publication of the complete voter list. The official release of the updated voter list is scheduled for February 8, 2024. This step is essential for ensuring an accurate and comprehensive voter registry in preparation for upcoming electoral processes.
To include a new voter's name in the list, one must complete Form-6 provided by the Election Department. For requests related to name removal or modifications, individuals should utilize Forms 7 and 8. Those turning 18 on April 1, July 1, or October 1, 2024, can also submit applications to have their names enlisted. It is important to note that the Election Department has specified January 1, April 1, July 1 and October 1 of each year as the designated dates for the addition of names to the voter registry.
