In two separate incidents today, 2 people have drowned in Fateh Sagar and Lake Bari today. An army jawan died by drowning in Bari lake while a body of an unknown man was found floating in lake Fateh Sagar.

Including these two the total number of casualties due to drowning goes to 6 in the month of October.

Jai Singh, an army jawan with batch no. 2697338W was on routine training that is going on at Lake Bari with a group of 20 jawans who have to swim from one corner of the lake to the other at around 6 in the morning when this incident took place.

According to the sources, Jai Singh while swimming towards the other side of the lake suddenly started drowning when he was in middle of the lake and seeing him going down army divers tried to rescue but could not save him.

His body was later pulled out with the help of other divers and taken to Army Hospital where he was declared dead and the postmortem was conducted in Military Camp Eklingarh.

The cause of his death is not known to us as we could not correspond with army officials.

In another incident which occurred at 11:00 today, a few people noticed a body floating on the surface of water at Lake Fateh Sagar near Navghat. Police was informed about the body and the body was pulled out by the locals before the arrival of the police.

The deceased was of medium height and healthy physic, during investigation nothing was found to identify him, though his hand was tattooed with ‘Shobha Ram’ written but police has not confirmed anything about his identity.

The body was sent to mortuary and postmortem will be done only if someone claims the body,” says one of the police officer investigating the case.

Since the beginning of this month this is 6^th case of drowning. A body was found at Lake Pichola on 2 Oct, on 4^th Oct one man drowned in Lake Fateh Sagar and on 6^th October(news here) 2 people drowned in Lake Bari.
