Pollution Control Board has taken water samples to investigate the cause behind the death of crocodiles.

A crocodile was found dead in Bedach River of Friday. On Sunday the villagers found 2 more dead crocodiles in the river taking the death count to 3.

Pollution Control Board (PCB) has taken samples of the water of Bedach River for further investigation. The residents of the area informed the forest department officials about the dead crocodiles. The officials then went to the site and took the carcass for post-mortem.

Allegedly the waste water from nearby units is responsible for polluting the water of River Bedach. This water has claimed the lives of many creatures in and around the river. When residents first spotted the dead crocodile on Friday, they took the body of the creature to the Collectorate and protested.

One of the bodies that were found on Sunday was decomposed and was of an adult crocodile and the 2nd one was a skeletal structure of a baby crocodile. The villagers are quite agitated with the death of these animals including their cattle. They confronted the forest department officials and demanded strict action.

It has been reported that no action has been taken by the authorities yet and the villagers have warned that if stringent action is not taken, they will move court. The reports are awaited before any action is taken, as maintained by the forest department.
