UMC relocates 20 street vendor to reduce traffic in Udaipur; Vendors shifted to new vending zone
Udaipur, February 5, 2025 - Udaipur Municipal Corporation (UMC) has relocated 20 street vendors from Science College Chauraha to the newly designated vending zone in Oriental Palace lane near Sevashram Chauraha. The move took place on Tuesday, February 4, 2025.
Efforts to Ease Traffic
Municipal Commissioner Ram Prakash stated that street vendors occupying main roads and intersections had been causing traffic disruptions. To address this, UMC has identified non-vending zones and is shifting all vendors to designated vending areas.
New Vending Zones for Street Vendors
UMC has planned new vending zones across the city. Vendors will be relocated one by one to these areas. This step aims to reduce inconvenience for the general public and ensure smoother traffic flow.
Past Relocations Improved City Management
Earlier, UMC had relocated vendors from outside Samor Bagh and the hospital. This helped in better management of those areas and improved the city's image among tourists.
