Municipal Corporation has seized 24 shops in Bada Bazar area as the builders had taken permission for residential premises but converted it into a commercial one. The teams of Municipal Corporation reached Bada Bazar on Friday morning but had to face heavy opposition from the shopkeepers. They said that no action can be taken without giving prior notice. After this, the team asked the shopkeepers to vacate the shops by afternoon. In the evening the teams reached the market once again and seized the shops one by one.

As per reports, the Corporation had given permission for residential construction to Lad Kunwar Nainawati. Permission was granted for ground plus 2 floors but commercial construction was done instead of residential. 24 shops were being operated in this area. The building owner said that no notice was given to him and when asked about it, the team had no explanation regarding this. He said that the entire Maldas street area has unapproved commercial premises but action was taken only for his building.
