2-day Nationwide Bank Strike from Tomorrow
Banking system nationwide would come to a halt for 2 days due to a strike called by United Forum of Bank Unions on 22nd and 23rd August 2012. All banks will remain shut for these 2 days.

In Udaipur, employees and officials of various banks will group in-front of UCO, Bank Tiraha at 11.30 AM tomorrow to protest and put forward their demands.
In this regard, employees of banks of Udaipur region protested today in-front of Punjab National Bank, Town Hall. They expressed their anger against monopoly and dictatorship of Central Government and Indian Bank Union. D.K. Jain, P.S. Khinchi, O.P. Mutha and G.L. Joshi led the protest.
The objective of the protest is to attract Central Government’s attention towards their prolonged demands. One of their demands included the non-implementation of the recommendations of Human Resources & Khandelwal Committee, one sided. Issues of outsourcing bank tasks and filling up of vacant posts were also raised.
D.K. Jain said, “The development of Banking Sector should be implemented, instead of just showing it on papers and trying to privatize and internationalize the public banks”.
“The theory of closing bank branches in rural regions and giving chores to private agencies in the name of losses is not acceptable”, he added.
Also, long-pending (from 5 years) issues and demands including jobs on compassionate grounds, pension to families of expired employees, improvement in pension schemes, 5-days week working, definite working hours etc.
