42 Indian Pilgrims Feared Dead in Bus-Tanker Collision Near Medina
Many of the pilgrims are believed to be from Hyderabad; women, children reportedly among victims
Nov 17, 2025 – At least 42 people from India are feared dead in a tragic accident in Saudi Arabia after a bus carrying Umrah pilgrims collided with a diesel tanker in Mufrihat near Medina. The bus was carrying the pilgrims from Mecca to Medina when the accident occurred at around 01:30 am. As per reports, many of the victims are believed to be from Hyderabad in Telangana.
The group of pilgrims from Hyderabad had left on November 9, as per information. The bus was taking the pilgrims to Medina after completion of their Umrah rituals when the accident took place. Initial reports indicate there were 11 women and 10 children among the victims. Sources say the bus was completely charred making identification difficult.
More details are awaited even as the Ministry of External Affairs is in touch with the Saudi government and the Indian Embassy in Riyadh for information.
