Street Vending Zone Udaipur

In a bid to enhance traffic management and cater to the convenience of residents, the Udaipur Municipal Corporation has unveiled plans to designate 61 new vending zones across the city. This initiative comes as part of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Antyodaya Yojana, aiming to streamline street vending activities.

The decision follows a recent survey conducted by the municipal corporation, revealing a significant increase in the number of street vendors within the city. From a mere 10 vendors in the past eight years, the current count stands at 3095, necessitating the expansion of vending zones to accommodate the surge.

Under the provisions of the Street Vendor Act 2014, Rajasthan Street Vendor Act 2016, and Scheme 2017, the Udaipur Municipal Corporation had initially identified 24 vending zones in 2016. However, with the evolving landscape of street vending, the corporation has undertaken proactive measures to adapt to the growing demands.

To streamline operations and ensure proper identification of street vendors, the corporation will implement a system where vendors will be provided with a unique barcode for identification purposes. Additionally, innovative measures are being introduced, such as installing digital plates on vendor stalls containing essential information like the vendor's name, license number, and other pertinent details.

The newly designated vending zones not only aim to alleviate traffic congestion but also prioritize the accessibility of essential items for residents in close proximity to their homes.
