63 positive COVID19 cases have been identified in the first set of 750 sample reports received today afternoon. This number is similar to the per day count on May 8 and May 14 when 63 new cases were identified, taking the tally of positive count in Udaipur district from 22 to 326. However, these number seem to be more disturbing now, since there is no lockdown and the district is open to regular activities.

63 new positive cases were identified in a sample report of 750 patients. 30 of these cases are close contacts of already infected persons. 3 police men and 3 laboratory technicians have been found positive among these 63 cases. 18 new cases from within the district and 9 infected migrants have taken the tally to 1,234 positive cases in Udaipur.

Of the 63 new cases identified today, 41 cases are from the upcountry areas of Jhadol and Ogna (28), Gogunda (5), Salumber (4), Mavli (2), Fatehnagar (1), Kurabad (1).  The remaining 22 cases are from Udaipur city, of which 3 are policemen, 1 laboratory technician from MediCentre and new cases from Hathipol, Bohra Ganeshji, Delhi Gate, Goverdhan Vilas (prisoner), Akashwani Colony and Hiran Magri Sec 3, Sec 4, Sec 11, University Road and Dhanmandi.

It has been less than 48 hrs that the 9pm to 5am curfew restrictions were implemented in Udaipur following the increasing number of cases in the district. However, what has happened today morning has put the administrative and health machinery of the district into a toss. Such a high number within 24 hours in the unlock phase is sure to spring up massive challenges for the administrative machinery and the district should be prepared to accept some more restrictions in addition to those in force now.
