The Transportation Department has announced the discontinuation of issuing physical documents for Vehicle Registration Certificates (RC) and Driving Licences (DL). As of now, vehicle drivers are no longer required to carry their RC and Driving Licence in their pockets while driving. On the inaugural day of the new system, the Regional Transport Office in Udaipur reported issuing a total of 65 E-Driving Licences and E-RCs.
Under the new system, E-RC and E- Driving Licence are being issued instead of physical cards, marking a shift towards digital documentation. This transition comes with the added convenience of eliminating the Rs 200 fee previously charged for smart cards.
Through the transportation service portal, vehicle owners are now receiving their vehicle registration certificates and licence in PDF format. Upon application, a link is sent to the registered mobile number of the vehicle owner, facilitating easy access to the E-Driving License or E-RC in PDF format. Moreover, vehicle owners have the option to print their documents on PVC cards for added convenience.
E-Mitra Plus Machines
As part of the new arrangement, E-Mitra Plus machines have been deployed to provide a streamlined process for obtaining E-DL or E-RC. These machines offer a single platform for applicants to access and print their documents as needed.
