8-Lane Elevated Expressway to Ease Traffic

UdaipurTimes, Sept 14, 2026 - In view of the increasing traffic congestion on the Noida Expressway and the expected rise in traffic after the opening of Jewar Airport, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is working on a plan to construct an approximately 31-km-long elevated expressway along the Yamuna Pushta. The new route will begin in the eastern part of Delhi, near the Okhla Barrage in Sector 94, and extend up to CHI-IV in Greater Noida, with direct connectivity to the Yamuna Expressway and Jewar Airport.
The objective of the expressway is to provide fast and uninterrupted connectivity between Delhi and Noida while avoiding traffic congestion within the city. The entire route will be elevated and will run above the existing Yamuna Pushta Road, helping commuters bypass inner-city traffic.
The project will feature an eight-lane high-speed corridor, along with multiple entry and exit points so that people from the adjoining sectors can also access the route easily.
The plan is being considered in three major components:
- Chilla Elevated Road: From Mayur Vihar to the Mahamaya Flyover.
- Elevated Link: A short elevated link connecting Mahamaya with the new Pushta Road.
- Main 31-km NHAI Expressway: From Sector 94 to CHI-IV in Greater Noida.
Currently, NHAI is preparing the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the project, while the concerned agencies are accelerating the processes related to land acquisition and approvals.
