Having received the tip off earlier during the day, the Police setup a blockade on the route from Pratapgarh via Bekariya, and rescued nine children from a vehicle that was taking them to Banaatkantha, Gujarat.
Two of the arrested, the mate Prakash s/o Gautam Raawat, resident of Saawan, Pratapgarh and the driver, Devilal, 35, s/o Baagmi Rathore; have been booked under Section 374 of the IPC and Sections 23 and 26 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2000.
In the initial interrogation, Prakash, the mate revealed that he has been working for Vajaaram Patel of the Banaskantha district of Gujarat, and on the requirement of child labour, had picked up the nine children from Suhagpura, Pratapgarh. He was transporting them via the Udaipur-Mount Abu route, as he thought the police will not doubt him.
