In a welcome decision taken by the state government of Rajasthan, the “Chiranjeevi” state health insurance program received much needed upgrade.
Looking into suggestions and comments being received on this program, the government has added Private and Cottage wards facilities to patients registered under the program. Patients with serious illnesses are clubbed with those with regular medical issues and are admitted in the same general ward. This was causing health related issues to patients with serious illnesses like Cancer.
The Rajasthan Medical Relief Society will look into providing cottage and private rooms to patients desiring such a facility in government run hospitals at pre-defined costs. In case of NABL approved private hospitals providing the Chiranjeevi facility, the rates of private and cottage wards will be provided to the Rajasthan State Health Insurance Agency, following which the agency will finalise the rates. These rates will be displayed at the Chiranjeevi counter and patients will have the option to choose whether they want to avail of such rooms.
To ensure that in-patient admission days are not manipulated, it has been instructed that hospitals will NOT force patients into taking these facilities, but just advice on the availability.
UdaipurTimes will soon be bringing you latest updates on other such demands and issues under the Chiranjeevi program.
