In an overnight development, the state Home department issued orders towards transfers of the IG of Udaipur, Hinglajdan and Manoj Kumar, SP of Udaipur. These orders consisted of transfers of SPs across 10 districts in Rajasthan and 32 IPS officers in the state.

Effective immediately, IPS Prafulla Kumar will  be new Inspector General of Udaipur range and IPS Vikas Sharma will take over as Superintendent of Police, Udaipur. Prafulla Kumar a Rajsthan batch 2001 IPS Officer headed the ATS at Jaipur (IG - ATS) and was leading the SIT constituted to look into the murder of Kanhaiya Lal Udaipur. Udaipur's new SP, Vikas Sharma, who will take charge at 2pm today, was posted as Superintendent of Police at Ajmer.

As a consequence of the apparent carelessness in handling the complains of Kanhaiya Lal that resulted in his gruesome killing, SHO Govind Singh and ASI Bhanwarlal of Dhan Mandi Police station were already suspended. Udaipur SP Manoj Kumar was transferred vide orders issued late last night. Hinglajdan, the erstwhile of Udaipur range, was also responsible for Dungarpur district. The SP of Dungarpur, Sudhir Joshi, was also transferred from his post, following the bribery scandal that unfolded in the district last week. Hinglajdan has been transferred to Human Rights.
