Monsoon rains, in their exit phase from Rajasthan, led to a freak incident in a village near Udaipur on Sunday, 11 September, where a fatal lightning strike killed 3 people and injured 5. The incident happened in Jabla village of Tidi, Udaipur District. The local police informed that the injured, of which one is seriously injured and in critical condition, were admitted to Udaipur's MB General Hospital the same day.
Sources mentioned that a group of shepherds went to graze their goats in open farms in the vicinity of Dhuniya Fala, in Jabla village, which is situated in the Tidi tehsil of Udaipur district. While they were out in the open with their goats, rains began and lightning struck the group and 8 persons were unable to escape the lightning strike. The people who lost their lives to lightning included 14 year-old Asha, daughter of Mohan Meena, 44 year-old Manish son of Babulal, and 35 year-old Manisha, wife of Dinesh Meena. The other 5 people who are seriously injured and are admitted at MB Hospital, Udaipur include 23 year-old Meenakshi, wife of Ganesh Meena; 13 year-old Narendra, son of Mukesh Meena; 45 year-old Jiva, son of Rama Meena and 26 year-old Dinesh Meena, son of Jalam Meena. Narendra is in critical condition.
Rural MLA, Phool Singh Meena and Collector Tarachand Meena visited the injured people in the hospital and the postmortem of the deceased was conducted on Monday, 12 September.
