The new year 2023 is expected to bring good news for rail commuters in Udaipur. Additional train services are likely to connect Udaipur to other cities. Some of these new trains will connect cities of Rajasthan to those in Madhya Pradesh.
West Central Railway has sent a proposal to North Western Railway to expand the weekly train service from Rewa to Udaipur through Dungarpur to Ahmedabad (Asarva). The train is expected to run on the Udaipur Ahmedabad broad gauge line from the month of January, 2023.
The proposal suggests that weekly train (Train No. 02181) should leaves Rewa every Sunday at 08:55 in the evening and reach Udaipur at 02:20 on Monday afternoon via Satna, Katni, Damoh, Saugor, Guna, Baran, Sogaria and Chanderiya. Similarly, this weekly train (Train No. 02182) is proposed to leave Udaipur every Monday at 05:30 in the evening and reach Rewa at 10:35 on Tuesday morning via Chanderiya, Sogaria, Baran, Guna, Saugor, Damoh, Katni and Satna.
If the above plan is approved, a weekly train service (train no. 02181) will run from Rewa to Udaipur and then to Ahmedabad (Asarva) via Dungarpur, Shamlaji, and Himmatnagar. Similarly, the weekly train service (Train No. 02182) will start from Ahmedabad (Asarva) instead of Udaipur and reach Himmatnagar, Shamlaji, Dungarpur and from Udaipur it will run to Rewa junction.
If this request is accepted, not only would travelers traveling from Udaipur to Ahmedabad will benefit from an additional train every week, but Madhya Pradesh will also be connected through train from Dungarpur.
