UdaipurTimes, Oct 20, 2026 - The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has launched a new Aadhaar App that allows users to update their address and mobile number from home. The facility is available to both Android and iPhone users. The processing fee for each of the updates, as per the UIDAI, will be Rs 75 which can be made online through the App.

Update Aadhaar Address

Step 1: Download the new Aadhaar App on your Smartphone and log in using your six-digit Aadhaar number. Complete the identity verification process.
Step 2: Go to the Services tab of the App at the bottom of the bar and select the Address Update option. Enter your new address and upload a supporting address proof document selected from the list provided of accepted Proof of Address (PoA) documents.
Step 3: Complete the Face Authentication process. Once verification is successful, your address update request will be submitted to UIDAI.

Step 4: Save or download the acknowledgement slip to track the progress of your request through the Service Request Number (SRN) provided on the slip.

Update Mobile Number

Step 1: Select the Mobile Number Update option under the Services section. Enter your new mobile number and follow the instructions displayed on the screen.

Step 2: Once identity verification is complete, submit your request.

Step 3: Save the generated SRN to track your status.
After the update process is completed, OTPs and other notifications linked to your Aadhaar will begin arriving on your new mobile number.

Benefits
With this new facility, the need to visit Aadhaar centres to update addresses and mobile numbers is expected to decrease considerably. The service can save time, help users avoid long queues and make the update process more convenient through a smartphone.

However, biometric updates, including changes to fingerprints, iris scans or photographs, will still require a visit to an Aadhaar Seva Kendra.
