Advocates Protest in agitation of HC Bench Demand not Being Heard Dozens of Advocates, under the banner of Mewar-Waagad High Court Bench Sangharsh Samiti and Bar Association staged a protest outside the office of the Sub Registrar. The issue pertains to a 3 decade old standing demand of having a High Court Bench in Udaipur. The protestors also voiced their anguish against the State Government for not considering their prolonged demand of the HC Bench. Today morning, the agitated Advocates of the city went on a pen down strike even the counters and shops of Judicial Stamp vendors and typewriters remained closed as a part of the protest. President of the Udaipur Bar Association, Praveen Khandelwal, who was a part of the protest said that the association and the Sangharsh Samiti planned to keep the offices of the Deputy Registrar 1st and Deputy Registrar 2nd closed as these departments provide revenue to the government and if both these departments will be kept closed then it will affect the revenue of the government for the day. Following this announcement, the protestors went to the said offices all the staff members of the departments were asked to stop their work and close their offices. Khendelwal was accompanied by the Coordinator of the Mewar-Waagad High Court Sangahrash Samiti Ramesh Nandwana, who said that they are protesting for the Bench since decades to ensure that poor tribal people from Udaipur district can get justice at lower costs as presently they have to travel to other cities to plea to the High Court for any case. He further added that around 300 Advocates including the Deputy President of the U.B.A Harish Ameta, Secretary of the U.B.A Khushboo Nenawa, Financial Secretary Tarun Joshi and Library Secretary Manmohan Singh participated in the protest and demonstrated their discomfort by voicing their grievance against the State Government. Later the Advocates went to the Court premises and made a decision to take strict action against all such Advocates who remained absent in the protest and also decided to issue notices to them, as per Khandelwal. On this occasion Praveen Khandelwal on the behalf of all the Advocates also said that if Government will not consider their demand of installing a Bench of Rajasthan High Court in Udaipur then they will keep on protesting and also close related Government offices that generate revenue for Government.
