Udaipur, March 29, 2025 - Air India’s CEO, top executives, and senior commanders will soon fly in economy class for domestic travel. This new travel policy for staff will be implemented in phases starting next month. The airline has seen an increase in demand for business and premium economy class seats in the last 27 months. To prioritize customers, the management introduced this policy.

For top management (vice-president and above), the policy will apply from April 1. Senior commanders will follow from June 1. If business or premium economy seats remain empty 50 minutes before departure, staff can upgrade. Previously, staff on duty were allowed to travel in business class for work.

Air India has 50,000 premium economy seats per week across its A320 aircraft. The airline is also reconfiguring 27 more A320 planes with economy class by October.
