May 9, 2025 – Air raid sirens went off in Ambala, Panchkula and Chandigarh this morning and residents have been advised to stay indoors and away from open areas. All schools, colleges and educational institutions are shut today and tomorrow, May 9 and 10. According to the Ambala DC, an air warning had been received from the Air Force station indicating a possible attack.

Early this morning, explosions were heard in Jammu city as also there were reports of Pakistani firing across the Line of Control (LoC) on Kupwara and Uri. Border Security Force (BSF) has foiled a major infiltration bid at the International Boundary in Samba, J&K,  killing seven terrorists and causing damage to Pakistan’s Dhandhar post, say reports.

Loud explosions reverberated through Jaisalmer for nearly an hour during the night. Blackouts were imposed across western Rajasthan's districts bordering Pakistan as also in many districts of Punjab, Chandigarh and parts of Haryana, including Panchkula, Ambala and Sirsa in the face of the increasing threat of airstrikes.

Meanwhile, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is said to hold a meeting with the chief of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
